Three Months To Go..
Remember when you were little and you spent all year wishing for birthdays/christmas to come by quicker? My parents always used to say "Don't wish your life away" and tell me about how when I was older time would "fly by" - of course being little I didn't believe a word they said and must have thought they were crazy or something
But here I am in my final year of University and I honestly can't say how fast it's gone - it seems like only yesterday I was a first year thinking I had all the time in the world to learn about my subject. If you speak to a graduate you of course expect them to know everything about the subject they did their degree in, but of course there's always more to learn especially in computing which is constantly changing. I imagine a lot of the stuff I learnt back in 2006 is out of date considerably now.
I have to say after the last year or so dreading going to work for real (I did a placement for a year but it wasn't in my chosen speciality) I would feel pretty confident now about starting the "rat race", if I wasn't going to be changing careers entirely. I think I had already made up my mind to do this sometime last year but it's only in these last few months it has really clicked that I made a huge mistake when I was choosing a course.
Regardless, I've decided to finish even if it will cost me a couple of hundred pounds more (more like three thousand, yikes!) because I want to finish what I've started, and in hindsight I'm glad I did decide to come back because although it's been hard work, I've learnt a huge amount in the last year not only about computer science, but also about my work ethic and for the first time in my life, I know what I want to do.
So I graduate in three months time and then I'm starting over, re-doing my a-levels and applying to universities all over again. It seems pretty daunting considering I'll be 4-5 years older than most of the other people, but I'm sure it's the right thing to do.
So what about anyone else? Any epiphanies about your life that have caused you to abandon several years of commitment and move on to something else? Any regrets?

Computer games don't affect kids, I mean if Pac Man affected us as kids, we'd all be running around in darkened rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music.
